Modern slavery and human trafficking statement

This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines BM Steel Fabrications' commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within its operations and supply chains.

Introduction:

BM Steel Fabrications is dedicated to upholding ethical practices and ensuring the welfare of individuals throughout its business operations. As a provider of steel fabrication services, we aim to maintain transparency and integrity in all our dealings

Our Commitment:

We are committed to the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and unequivocally oppose modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. As an equal opportunities’ employer, we strive to foster a work environment that is free from discrimination and respectful of all individuals. We encourage a culture where employees feel empowered to report any suspicions of wrongdoing without fear of reprisal.

Recruitment and Procurement Practices:

Our recruitment and procurement processes are designed to ensure that all employees are legally entitled to work. We conduct thorough checks to safeguard against any potential exploitation or coercion. Additionally, we do not engage in business with any organization, domestically or internationally, that knowingly supports or participates in slavery, servitude, or forced labour.

Policies and Procedures:

BM Steel Fabrications has implemented comprehensive policies and procedures to address modern slavery and human trafficking. These include:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Ethics Policy
  • Whistleblowing Policy
  • Diversity and Inclusion Policy
  • Recruitment and Selection Policy

These policies are accessible to all employees through our internal systems, and regular training sessions are conducted to ensure awareness and understanding.

Supply Chain Management:

Due to the nature of our business, we have assessed ourselves to have a low risk of modern slavery within our supply chains. However, we remain vigilant and work closely with our suppliers to promote ethical practices. We ensure that modern slavery considerations are integrated into our procurement processes and contractual agreements.

Future Steps:

BM Steel Fabrications is committed to continuous improvement in combating modern slavery and human trafficking. Over the next year, we plan to:

  • Conduct sample checks on smaller suppliers to ensure compliance with the Modern Slavery Act
  • Provide refresher training to relevant staff members
  • Include modern slavery awareness as part of our induction processes for new employees
